As part of International Alzheimer’s Day on September 21, 2014, committed and volunteer individuals hosted a Coffee Break® to support the Alzheimer’s cause. Among them, Nicole Platanitis, a young law student at the Université de Sherbrooke who held two Pause-Café® events: Tuesday, October 28 at the Bois-Franc station and October 29 at the St-Dorothée station. As early as 6 am, Nicole was present with her family members to greet the train passengers and offer them hot coffee and homemade treats. The welcome was very warm and the generosity of people at the rendezvous.
Nicole’s commitment did not stop there since a third event, awareness this time, was held Thursday, October 30 at Place Ville-Marie. It was an opportunity to answer the questions of passersby, to offer information and especially to address certain myths and prejudices, still largely related to Alzheimer’s disease.
Thanks to her efforts and dedication to the Alzheimer’s cause, Nicole was able to donate $ 735 to the Quebec Federation of Alzheimer Societies.
On behalf of the members of the Board of Directors and all the team of the Quebec Federation of Alzheimer Societies, a warm thanks to Nicole Platanitis for her involvement with us.
